Dozens of people marched across the Brooklyn Bridge Wednesday to mark National Denim Day.

The participants wore jeans to raise awareness of sexual assault.

As they made their way to City Hall, the participants chanted and held posters with messages of support to sexual assault survivors.

The event stemmed from a rape case that took place in Italy in the 1990s. The victim wore tight jeans and the court initially ruled that she must have had to help her attacker remove her jeans, and in turn, gave consent.

The event coincided with the kickoff to Fashion Week in Brooklyn.
