Residents rallied at City Hall Thursday to protest HIV/AIDS funding cuts in Brooklyn. Shifts in federal funding mean many Brooklyn residents living with HIV or AIDS will have to travel to get some of their support services. The 718 AIDS Coalition says funding for family and support services is being taken out of the outer boroughs and moved into Manhattan.Officials say although funding has been shifted, this does not mean that service locations in Brooklyn will be closing.
