Median makeovers adding benches to Sunset Park's roadways are a waste of money, at least according to residents who oppose them.
They say the high traffic on Fourth Avenue is the opposite of a relaxing environment where the new benches would be useful.
But the Department of Transportation wants to raise and widen the median down the middle of the road in order to create green spaces adorned with park benches.
Renee Giordano, the executive director of Sunset Park's Business Improvement District, says a beautification project in the neighborhood would be welcome -- if it were somewhere else.
