Residents are calling for the city's help in fixing a busy, dangerous intersection before it is too late.
According to residents, crossing through the intersection of Castle Hill Avenue and the Cross Bronx Expressway puts people in harm's way. Residents are asking the city's Department of Transportation (DOT) to help put the brakes on speeding drivers by installing a turning light.
Pedestrians say it is a daily occurrence to see cars, motorcycles and even trucks racing down the road in order to beat the red light. The main offenders are the drivers who want to make a turn on the wide crossroad, they say.
Community Board 9 tells News 12 The Bronx that it is waiting on the DOT to respond to the turning light request.
A DOT spokesperson says it initiated a study of the intersection earlier this year and hope to release the results in the coming weeks.
