It was victory for Victor Mooney Monday morning at the Brooklyn Bridge as he completed his 21-month journey across the Atlantic Ocean.
The 49-year-old rowed across the Atlantic to raise awareness for AIDS and to urge people to get tested. The row was also in memory of Mooney's brother, who died of the disease in 1983.
Mooney ended his 5,000-mile transatlantic trip surrounded by supporters, who said they were proud of him and amazed by his courage. He began Feb. 19, 2014 at the Canary Islands off the coast of Africa.
Mooney says he tried to row across the Atlantic by himself three times previously, but couldn't make the journey until now.
