Santa took a break from the North Pole to spread some Christmas cheer to children at the Interfaith Medical Center today.
More than 450 preschoolers and kindergarteners had their picture taken with old Saint Nick at Interfaith Medical Center's Winter Wonderland. Santa also handed out gift bags that included Barbie dolls, toy planes and "Star Wars" action figures.
"We reach out to the community schools and day care centers, and they bring the kids over for Winter Wonderland. We raise money through private funds to buy the gifts for the children," said Sharonnie Perrie of the Interfaith Medical Center.
In addition to the pictures and the presents, Interfaith handed out cash gift cards to 300 needy families in the surrounding community.
"When we were giving out the gift cards yesterday, we had parents whose family lived in shelters come in crying, so this would bring a little bit of joy to them," said Perrie.
This is the third year Interfaith Medical Center has organized the Christmas extravaganza.
