Performers in the Save Our Streets talent show in Crown Heights were on a mission to end gun violence in their community Saturday night.
Organizers say they wanted to redirect people's attention from recent violence to those with a positive message and plenty of skills.
The SOS group says that their work goes beyond denouncing gun violence. They say changing the narrative in the neighborhood is just as important.
"We need to change the mindset...Write a rap, do a dance, create a song. Show your talent," says one organizer.
