One week after a 53-year-old Bronx woman went missing from a psychiatric center, her family continues to search for her.
Officials say Balbina Castillo had been a patient at the Bronx Psychiatric Center for five years prior to her disappearance. Castillo's family says she suffers from schizophrenia.
State Assemblyman Eric Stevenson says Castillo and other patients were supposed to be at the main campus for day activities. He says there were no tables and the patients were left unsupervised for five hours.
The Castillo family says Balbina was restricted to in-patient status after she went missing as an out-patient last month.
Assemblyman Stevenson says he plans to investigate the center and how it contributed to her disappearance.
