Small Business Saturday aims to boost local economy
Shoppers in the Brooklyn spent the day at mom-and-pop shops around the borough for Small Business Saturday.
The event has become extremely popular in recent years as a way to encourage shoppers to consider small, local businesses as they begin their holiday shopping.
Falling between Black Friday and Cyber Monday, the goal of Small Business Saturday is to encourage everyone to help preserve neighborhood culture and boost local economy.
"It's a good day to remind people that if they don't support their small business in their neighborhood they're going to lose them," says Estela Johannesen, of James Weir Floral Company.
