Some Bronx residents start the New Year out of their home after weekend fires

The causes of the fires are still being investigated by fire marshals.

Fires broke out across three residences in the Bronx from Friday to Saturday, leaving some residents without a home. 
On Friday, in Bedford Park at East 197th St. at Pond Place, a fire broke out around 4:57 p.p. on the second floor of a six-story apartment. One person was taken to SBH Health System in critical condition. FDNY confirmed on Saturday that they passed away.  
Meanwhile, on Elder Avenue between East 172nd St. and Westchester Avenue, a fire broke out on the second floor of a five-story apartment around 8:30 p.m. on Saturday. Six people were injured and one was critical.  
On Sunday, the third fire broke out at a private home on Colgate Ave at around 12:30 a.m., which spread to the house next door. Police say a 50-year-old male was pronounced dead and two officers were taken to the NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi for smoke inhalation. 
The causes of the fires are still being investigated by fire marshals.
