Officials have extended the hours of some city public swimming pools amid the excessive ongoing heat.

Hours at the Kosciuszko Pool in Bedford-Stuyvesant have been extended until 8 p.m.

Officials at the pool say hundreds of people have been visiting the pool over the past few days.

This is the fifth day of oppressive heat across the city where temperatures have surpassed 90 degrees.

Residents were already lined up outside of the pool before it opened at 11 a.m. Officials say lifeguards are on duty.

The Parks Department says it wants everyone who visits public pools to have a safe and enjoyable experience.
