The family of an elderly Bronx woman who died in a fire last week is warning others about the dangers of careless smoking.
Joe Governali says the death of his mother, 70-year-old Joanna Governali, is a senseless and preventable tragedy. The retired school teacher lived alone in Bedford Park where flames took over her third-floor apartment as a result of careless smoking.
Governali hopes to take something positive from his story and help save lives.
