The embattled Soundview Healthcare Network has filed a lawsuit against the city Department of Health for $300,000.
A spokesperson for the clinic says the money, which is part of an $800,000 award it was granted last May, is needed to pay for medical malpractice insurance. Former state Sen. Pedro Espada Jr. was convicted of embezzling the other $500,000.
Officials say they believe the Department of Health is refusing to hand over the rest of the money because it's harboring bad feelings against Espada.
The case returns to court next Monday.
