Police sources say that 3-month-old Jekeina Dubose may have been accidentally dropped out of the window by her 9-year-old brother.

Officials at first believed that an adult threw her out of the window on Tuesday.

Police say the baby landed on an air conditioning unit in a first-floor window at the Edenwalk Houses at around 8 p.m. The infant was rushed to Jacobi Medical Center with a fractured skull, but is expected to survive.

Police say that when they arrived at the apartment, the guard over the window the baby fell from was in place.

Neighbors say that the baby's mother, Takeya Dubose, is neglectful to her seven children and that the children have asked for food from neighbors.
