Finding affordable space is a challenge for many Brooklyn artists, so a nonprofit organization is offering some solutions.
Spaceworks in Gowanus offers below-market prices for their studios. Artists pay $350 a month for the private rooms that have high ceilings, plenty of light and amenities.
Spaceworks transformed underused public and private building spaces into affordable and permanent workplaces for artists.
The studios are generally 200 to 300 square feet.
Spaceworks is opening what they say will be their biggest project in Brooklyn so far at the Williamsburg Library. Right now, they are taking applications from artists to fill the affordable art studios.
The deadline for applications is July 31.
