Martin Luther King Jr. weekend is always a busy one for high school basketball.
Now in its 13th year, the Rose Classic Super Jam has become a Martin Luther King Jr. weekend staple of the girls basketball community, not just New York City, but the entire country.
69 teams coming to play this year, representing all five boroughs, seven different states and even a few schools from Canada.
The event has even gotten so big, that it's had to expand to three different sites, with varsity games happening at Nazareth and Canarsie high schools, while JV games are played at the Post BK in Greenpoint.
Among the teams in action, defending PSAL Class 'B' Champs Brooklyn Law and Tech have moved up to 'A' this year and had no trouble with St. Joe's by the Sea, winning 66-32.
In boys basketball, Poly prep hasn't won an Independent schools state title since 2004 but they're definitely in the mix this year. The won a wild one against St. Mary's from Long Island 58-56.
