Wednesday was media day for Big East basketball, and the preseason coaches poll picked St. John's to finish in last place.
Xaverian High School alum and Hall of Famer Chris Mullin is returning to his alma mater to coach the St. John's men's basketball team.
"City players and coaches and people in the basketball fraternity are proud of each other," Mullin says. "I think we are proud of our history and tradition and we like to see each other do well."
St. John's already has a commitment for next season from Jefferson High School's Shamorie Ponds.
