Staff Picks: The Mixtape Tour 2019 – What You Need to Know

Are you a Blockhead? Or maybe you just love 90s music? Either way, if you’re heading to the Mixtape Tour at NYCB Live at Nassau Coliseum, the Prudential Center in Newark, Mohegan Sun in Connecticut or all three – you need to keep reading. I just saw the tour in D.C. at the Capital One Arena and have everything you need to know!
The rumors are true. The New Kids On The Block do take the stage first – so arrive on time. There is a DJ that comes out at 7:30 p.m., so you do have a little time to find your seats, but expect long lines for food, drinks and, of course, the bathrooms.
The show is just like a mixtape – remember making those? So each act rotates and takes the stage several times performing all of your favorite hits!
The New Kids come out around 8 p.m., and they kick off with a lot of their most popular hits, such as “You Got It (The Right Stuff),” and “Summertime.”  After about a half-hour set – the boys run off to allow Tiffany to take the stage with some of her hits! Debbie Gibson comes out for a medley of some of her songs, before the guys come out again.
After some more hits such as “Please Don’t Go Girl,” Salt-N-Pepa take the stage.
Soon after the guys make their way through the audience to perform on the second stage toward the back of the arena. If you’re lucky enough to have scored floor seats, get your cameras ready as the guys take time to take selfies with audience members. But if you’ve been to other NKOTB shows – you already knew this, right?
After that, the boys take another break so Naughty By Nature can take the stage. During Debbie Gibson’s second set, she performs her hits on the piano with a surprise guest during “Lost In Your Eyes” that you won’t want to miss. Salt-N-Pepa and Tiffany take the stage again for some more of their hits, before the guys hit the stage for more of their crowd favorites.
Everyone comes out for the close of the show and to perform “80s Baby,” one of the latest hits from NKOTB this year.
This is sure to be one show that any 80s baby shouldn’t miss! So pop in your mixtapes (or CDs), put on your NKOTB shirts and pins, and head on down to one of the shows in the area to catch these entertaining acts! It’s definitely one you won’t want to miss – and sure to be something all your friends will be talking about! And a plus – the show ends around 10:30 p.m. – so you can be in bed by 11 p.m.!
