Police say a car struck a 15-year-old boy making his way home from the end of summer classes in Crown Heights Thursday.
The boy was taken to the Kings County Hospital in critical condition. Witnesses say they saw a large amount of blood on the ground after the boy's body shattered the car's windshield.
The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and was not arrested, but it is unclear whether he will face charges in the future. Police say they're looking into how fast the driver was going.
The teen's father says his son is out of surgery and that early indications show he will survive.
