Block party celebrates LGBTQ community of color
The 11th annual Bushwick Pride Block Party took place on Grove Street on Saturday.
The event celebrated the LGBTQ community of color living in Brooklyn.
"With the bigger pride events it's very white and not very diverse so we're having this as a way to actually showcase that there is this LGBTQ struggle in other communities and dismantle that type of discrimination," said Isaiah Quinones, an organizer from GLOBE.
In addition to celebrating with food and fun, the event also served as a way to educate people about safe sex and provided free HIV testing.
Straight people and allies of the LGBTQ community were also welcome to enjoy the day together.
