A group of activists is calling on the city to get rid of the developer picked for a residential project at the Bedford-Union Armory.

The project would turn the armory into a sprawling, multipurpose complex with housing, a recreation facility and commercial space.

Some activists accuse the developer, Slate Property Group, of what they call shady dealings, most notably a scandal involving a former Manhattan nursing home that will reportedly be flipped into luxury condos.

Because of that, the activists say they do not believe the developer will actually meet the needs of the Crown Heights community, instead only drawing in wealthier people from other areas and further gentrifying the neighborhood.

Activists want the city to retract its partnership with the developer and choose a nonprofit that can deliver true affordable housing to the area.
