Police: Man shot after attempting to rob off-duty officer
A man was shot after he attempted to rob an off-duty police officer and a friend in Brooklyn, according to police.
The incident happened at the intersection of Flatbush and Sixth avenues in Park Slope around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Police say the off-duty officer and a friend were walking to their car after a night at Bleachers Sports Bar and Grill on Flatbush Avenue when someone tried to rob them. Investigators tell News 12 a struggle ensued between them that led to a gun discharging, striking the 32-year-old suspect in the leg.
It is currently unclear whether the police officer's service weapon was discharged or if the robbery suspect's gun was fired.
The suspect was taken to Methodist Hospital in stable condition.
Police say they are reviewing surveillance video in the area.
