Secondhand advocates tout National Thrift Shop Day
Wednesday marked National Thrift Shop Day.
Bargain shoppers and store managers say there can be a lot of history behind secondhand items.
Advocates say thrift shopping has a handful of advantages over buying new items from traditional retail stores.
"People get to find things at a great price, save some money, so it's good on the wallet, and it's also good for the environment," says Kathleen Brown, manager of the Buffalo Exchange store.
Some of the stores support organizations like Goodwill and Salvation Army.
