Community remembers 25th anniversary of Crown Heights riots

Community members gathered Sunday to remember the Crown Heights riots of 1991.
The planned festival at Brower Park drew criticism earlier this month, especially from a victim's brother, Norman Rosenbaum, who called it insensitive.
"It's the Crown Heights riots. They should be mourning. A lot of people got hurt and many dangerous things were happening at that time," says resident Sivad Gorman.
Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams and other community leaders hoped to turn it into something more by kicking it off with a unity march.
The march commemorates 7-year-old Gavin Gato, who was killed by a Hasidic driver, causing Yankal Rosenbaum to be murdered hours later.
The event included food, games and music for all to enjoy in an effort to bring the community together.
