Animal cruelty squad joins mutilated cat investigation

Police say the Animal Cruelty Investigation Squad is looking into who mutilated a cat found hanging from a tree at a Brooklyn cemetery on Sunday,

A teen says she was walking through the cemetery at Flatlands Reformed Church and saw the cat.

The pastor of the church says a red candle found near the cat may provide a clue to a motive in the case.

He says police will be monitoring the area, and he will be stepping up security, including locking the gate at night.
