Officer who was acquitted in fatal shooting to be honored

NYPD Sgt. Kenneth Boss, who was acquitted of murder charges in the fatal shooting of Amadou Diallo in 1999, will be named Sergeant of the Year on Tuesday.
According to published reports, Boss works in the NYPD Aviation unit and is being awarded for rescuing a couple stranded on a small island.
Boss is among eight sergeants being honored at the ceremony.
Boss was one of the four officers acquitted in the fatal shooting of Diallo, who was unarmed when he was shot 41 times.
