Path to Possible march members rally for more charter schools
Elected officials, along with thousands of charter school students and families, joined with the rapper Common in Prospect Park on Wednesday to rally for more schools.
The group called on Mayor Bill de Blasio to double the number of charter schools in the city.
Organizers of the Path to Possible march say more than 100,000 students per year are enrolled in public charter schools in New York City. They are calling on the mayor to double the public charter sector to 200,000 students by the year 2020.
They say many public schools don't provide the same quality of education to minorities.
