Day care video shows woman hit kids with wiffle ball bat

The city Health Department shut down a Flatbush day care center Tuesday after a video showing a woman hitting children with a wiffle ball bat raised accusations of child abuse.
"It's torturing," one mother said of the video taken inside the FVM Bethel Day Care Center. "She is torturing these kids."
In the surveillance video, a woman hits children with the plastic bat. Parents believe she is a worker at the day care center.
At least two parents accused the woman of leaving a bruise on their child's body.
The district attorney's office said the woman was given a desk appearance ticket to appear in criminal court.
The day care center said it is cooperating with authorities and would give no further comment.
The Health Department suspended the day care's permit following its investigation, according to a spokesperson.
"There is nothing more important for us than the safety of our children," the department said in a statement. "Parents should trust that day care centers are safe and nurturing places for their children."
