J'Ouvert shooting suspect arraigned on murder charge
Prosecutors unsealed the indictment against Reginald Moise, who is charged in a fatal shooting over Labor Day weekend at J'Ouvert.
Moise is charged with second-degree murder in connection with the death of Tiarah Poyau, 22, who was shot in the head, according to investigators.
"She's my only child, and now she's gone," said Poyau's mother, Vertina Brown, outside the courthouse.
Moise faces a maximum sentence of 25 years to life in prison if convicted. His lawyer says Moise is offering sympathy and condolences to the victim's family but had nothing to do with the crime.
Tyreke Borel, 17, was also killed during the J'Ouvert violence. Four other people were injured.
