Coney Island DMV set to temporarily close

The New York State Department of Motor Vehicles will be closing its Coney Island location for the next two months starting this Friday.

Officials say work stations at the West Eighth Street location will be upgraded to make transactions faster. There will also be new signage to better direct customers.

Some businesses in the lobby of the building in which the DMV is located will be open during the temporary shutdown.

The DMV is expected to reopen in December.

The borough's other location is near Atlantic Terminal.
