Park Slope businesses aim to be ‘age-friendly’
Dozens of Park Slope businesses are joining efforts to make the neighborhood "age-friendly."
That means they're outfitting themselves to be inviting to elderly citizens with things like seating, air conditioning and other amenities.
"It may be as simple as the front door is too heavy when it opens," says Councilman Brad Lander.
Participating businesses will hang bright yellow logos to signify their efforts.
"It really helps connect to the community better, and since we are a small shop, we really rely on the community to shop here," says Greg Bernarducci, who owns O-Live, a specialty olive oil and vinegar shop.
So far, 60 businesses are participating, but leaders hope that number will double.
