BK company creates greeting cards for LGBTQ community
A Prospect Heights entrepreneur has created a new option for the LGBTQ community when shopping for greeting cards.
Crystal Hudson says her cards fill a void. She says even though big card companies have embraced the community since the legalization of gay marriage, those cards tend to be too generic.
"You have two women in dresses, two men in suits and no variations," Hudson says.
Her company, "Gay Greetings," has options for not only the LGBTQ community but for their family and friends too.
One card says "Sibz4ever... No matter what." She says a card like this is for a sibling to give to their sibling who is transitioning.
Hudson raised $12,500 to get her company off the ground a few years ago.
Each card sells for $6 and can be purchased on her website, where shipping is free. Hudson says she hopes to get the cards in big box stores one day.
