DOE to disinfect P.S. 160 after kids get sick
Officials are eyeing a possible norovirus outbreak in connection with reports that P.S. 160 students in Borough Park became sick Wednesday.
Police and EMS were on scene at the school where they say 16 students fell ill early in the day. One of them was taken to a hospital.
The children showed symptoms including nausea and vomiting, which are consistent with those of norovirus -- also known as the stomach flu.
The Department of Education says it is looking into the symptoms along with the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.
The FDNY says it conducted environmental tests in the school, but the results came back normal.
The DOE says workers will disinfect the entire school, which is expected to hold classes Thursday.
