Gov. Cuomo to create special hate crimes task force

Gov. Andrew Cuomo says he is creating a new police unit to investigate reports of hate crimes in New York.
The NYPD says hate crimes are up nearly a third so far this year over the same period in 2015.
The governor also cited statistics from the Southern Poverty Law Center, which reported 437 incidents of intimidation targeting people of color, as well as Muslims, immigrants, women and members of the LBGT community in the week after the presidential election.
Cuomo's announcement comes after swastikas were found spray-painted on a bench at Adam Yauch Park in Brooklyn on Friday, along with the words "Go Trump."
The governor says it was just one of many hate crimes that has been reported in New York in recent weeks.
