Massive tree crushes car in Sheepshead Bay

Strong winds caused a massive tree to fall on a car in Sheepshead Bay Monday night.

The incident happened on East 17th Street between Avenue U and Avenue V around 9:30 p.m.

Neighbors who live in the area estimate the tree is at least 100 years old.

They say they have complained to the city about the tree being unsafe for years.

"Each time that I make a complaint or something like that, they send an inspector to come check and each time they say 'oh the tree [is] very healthy.' It will be here another 100 years," says one resident.
