Ruby’s Place celebrates 1st anniversary housing homeless
A community center in Prospect-Lefferts Garden is celebrating its first full year of providing housing to the formerly homeless.
The 72-unit Ruby's Place, named for the founder's mother, is housing people who were once homeless and have persistent mental illness or substance abuse issues.
Emory Brooks, who founded the center, says it is a tribute to his mother.
Social workers and other on-site specialists joined the celebration.
