Woman seeks repairs in NYCHA building for over 2 years
A woman who has lived in a NYCHA Crown Heights building for nearly eight years says she has been trying to get her apartment wall repaired for years.
The tenant, Kamesha, says almost two years passed since someone from NYCHA management told her they would repair cracks on the walls of her Kingsborough Houses residence.
She also says the mailbox in her building on Bergen Street is broken and opens without the use of a key.
Kamesha, who has two children and is nine months pregnant, says she is worried her wall is going to collapse.
News 12 reached out to NYCHA early Wednesday afternoon and is told that the superintendent came around to the apartment to take pictures of the wall.
NYCHA said in a statement Wednesday, "Staff repaired the mailbox today and they will start repair work on the resident's apartment today. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate the residents' patience while we make repairs."
