A startup hosted a free workshop on Sunday for girls who want to explore comedy.
GOLD: Comedy for Girls gave the free workshop for 13- to 19-year-old girls in Williamsburg.
Lynn Harris, a former standup comic and the founder of GOLD: Comedy for Girls, says she's helping girls "find their funny."
The workshop aimed to give young women the skills and opportunity to write and perform their own original standup comedy.
The girls learned how to build confidence, hone their authentic voices and get a taste of the power that comes with comedy.
Harris says the workshop also helps the young women be comfortable with their strengths, flaws and the people they are.

The event was Harris's second workshop. The next one in Brooklyn is scheduled for January.
