Police: Bank robber failed, found new bank, stole $4K
After a would-be bank robber failed to hold up a Bushwick bank Tuesday morning, police say he struck another just a half-hour later.
The suspect unsuccessfully tried to rob the Bank of America at 880 Quincy St. around 9:30 a.m., police say.
Authorities say they believe the same person moved on to the Chase Bank at 975 Bedford Ave. 30 minutes later. They say he handed the teller a note and made off with about $4,000.
Police have not yet released an image of the suspect.
A security guard has since been posted outside at least one of the banks.
Anyone with information about the incidents is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS, or 1-888-57-PISTA in Spanish.
