Questioning continues in correction officer death
Investigators continued to question Thursday the ex-boyfriend of a city correction officer who was gunned down in her car in Flatlands earlier this month.
Police say they arrested Keon Richmond, 34, on charges unrelated to the death of Alastasia Bryan, but sources say he remains a person of interest in the case.
Police arrested Richmond Wednesday evening and charged him with arson, criminal mischief, menacing and harassment for allegedly setting a different ex-girlfriend's car on fire on Fountain Avenue in October.
According to reports, he was hiding in a closet when police found him.
As News 12 has previously reported, Bryan, 25, was sitting in the driver seat of her car on Dec. 4 when someone shot into the vehicle several times, killing her. Surveillance video shows the killing and the getaway car. Bryan had been working at Rikers Island for just a month.
