Fire breaks out on Glenwood Road in East Flatbush home

Fire officials responded to a house fire in East Flatbush Monday.

The fire broke out on the first floor of the three-story home on Glenwood Road before 7 a.m.
While the Duncan family was asleep inside the home, neighbors called 911 at 6:36 a.m., and it took nearly 60 firefighters an hour to extinguish the blaze.
"I never thought it would happen, but it did. By the time I got up, the whole house was already on fire," says homeowner Natalie Duncan.
Officials say all six people made it out of the home and suffered only minor injuries.
FDNY officials say the cause of the fire is unknown, but one family member says she thinks it was caused by a heating unit on the first floor.
Even though their house burned down days before the holiday, the Duncan family say they are grateful because they may have lost some things but they didn't lose one another.
