Businesses provide last-minute ingredients for holiday meals

Many residents spent Saturday getting last-minute ingredients for their holiday meals.

The Meat Hook on Graham Avenue had a stream of customers for the past week stocking up for holiday dinner.

Jim Shirley and his daughter made the trip to the Williamsburg shop because they heard most of the products are raised on New York State farms.

Residents also flocked to the Octopus Garden to get all the traditional fixings for the Feast of the Seven Fishes celebrated by many Italian- Americans.

The Avenue U store has been open for 12 straight hours each day for the past few days to accommodate orders from Brooklyn and beyond.

One Bensonhurst resident says he makes it a tradition to stop by the store every year on Christmas Eve.

Both shops closed earlier than usual to allow staff to enjoy the holiday with family
