Best of Brooklyn: 12-year-old girl brings hospitalized kids holiday cheer
Spending Christmas at the hospital can be tough, but a 12-year-old Canarsie girl is doing her best to bring kids who are hospitalized at Brookdale hospital some holiday cheer.
From stuffed animals for babies to scrap books for older girls, Winter Hubbard hands out toys for all ages.
Hubbard saves up her allowance and also receives donations from her family to buy the toys.
Hubbard says it makes her sad to see the kids sick and forced to spend the holidays at the hospital.
Hubbard has been giving out holiday toys at the hospital since she was 9. Her mom, Desiree Williams says giving is just who she is.
"I want them to be happy in the hospital instead of sad," says Hubbard. "It feels exciting because it helps me feel better when I'm going through pain."
The young Santa is not done giving gifts. Next up she'll be organizing a sock drive for the homeless.
