Police: Man admitted killing ex-teacher, son because he didn't want to pay child support
Police charged a man with two counts of murder in connection with the slaying of a former Bronx teacher and her 4-year-old son after he admitted to not wanting to pay for child support, according to police.
Police say they took Isaac Duran Infante, a 23-year-old Pennsylvania man, into custody Tuesday. He faces two counts each of first- and second-degree murder. Duran allegedly told police he killed the two because he could not afford to pay child support and that he was dissatisfied with the way his son was being raised.
As News 12 has reported, Felicia Barahona, 36, was found dead in an apartment at 640 W. 153rd St. at 8:15 a.m. Monday.
Police say she had an electrical cord wrapped around her neck and that her 4-year-old son, Miguel Barahona, was also found dead with his head submerged in water.
Barahona was fired from her job as a science teacher at Dewitt Clinton High School in 2012 after the school says she had a romantic fling with the then 17-year-old Duran, a student at the school, and became pregnant with his child.
Duran is expected to be in court Wednesday.
