Extra security measures for Times Square on New Year's Eve

Close to 2 million people are expected to brace the early winter chills and bring in the New Year in Times Square, and the NYPD is working hard to keep everyone safe.

Sand-packed trucks are to be parked around Times Square just as they were for the Thanksgiving Day parade. The goal is to prevent a truck-style attack that was seen in Berlin earlier this month.

A total of 7,000 officers will also be stationed in the area.

Police say there are no credible threats to the city, and the enhanced security is just a precaution.
