Community organizations are teaming up with the Department of Education (DOE) to prepare students for the upcoming school year. The Brooklyn branch of the NAACP worked with the DOE and several corporations to distribute school supplies and 2,000 free backpacks at Borough Hall this morning. Officials say they are targeting at-risk students to help them avoid common pitfalls as school approaches.
