Police: Livery cab passenger shot in head during attempted robbery
Police say a man is seriously hurt after an attempted livery cab robbery in Flatlands.Police say a 23-year-old man was shot in the head inside a livery cab on Utica Avenue last night.Investigators say the cab was stopped at a red light on Avenue M and Utica Avenue when a man came up to the car, demanding money. They say the driver refused and punched the suspect in the face. That's when police believe the suspect fired a gun, missing the driver and hitting the passenger in the head.The victim was taken to Kings County Hospital, and first responders say he's in critical condition.The president of the New York State Federation of Taxi Drivers says drivers should never resist a robbery and that the passenger should never have been put in danger.Police say they have someone in custody, and their investigation is ongoing.
