Study: Not all parents follow car seat safety
Car safety is a priority for most parents, but a recent study shows that many don't know the safest way to buckle up their children.
According to a recent national survey by the University of Michigan, 21 percent of children under the age of 4 were not properly fastened, as recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics.
The results of the survey also found that race and ethnicity played a role, with Hispanic and black portions of the population less likely to take precautions.
Brooklyn parents who have questions about car or booster seat safety can head to the Department of Transportation's (DOT) Safe City location on Brush Avenue and Safe City Boulevard for free on-site inspections.
