A donor hoping to fund the renovation of a field house at Brooklyn Bridge Park has drawn criticism from cycling groups, which say the plan wouldn't meet the standards needed to host events and championship tournaments. Joshua Rechnitz says he will give $40 million to improve the decrepit field house, as long as it includes a 200-meter velodrome and 2,500 seats. However, Mike Green, the former director of the Century Road Club Association, says the track is only 200 meters, falling short of the 250-meter international standard. A spokesperson for the donor says Rechnitz is committed to working with the public to get input on the project. A proposed design for the facility will be released next month.
