Sexual assault has Williamsburg women on edge

Women in Williamsburg are on alert after an alleged sexual assault on New Year's Day.

Police say the woman was attacked that morning on Maspeth Avenue near Kingsland Avenue. Police from the 90th and 94th precincts say the incident on New Year's Day was isolated and that overall crime has decreased.

But Tish and Guido Cianciotta, who have lived in the area for more than 50 years, say another woman was also attacked with a stick on Withers Street. They say Williamsburg needs a greater police presence.
